Detailed Description
Detailed Description
Almost all the rebuilt GM-powered ‘baby’ Metrovicks were released in a subtly revised version of the ‘black & tan’ scheme with a dipped section to the golden brown lower band between the cab doors. Other differences included the addition of the CIÉ roundel and the new B201 series numbers on the bodyside, making for a pleasing final appearance that rivals the classic Supertrain scheme in popularity with enthusiasts. Released into traffic after its GM transplant in January 1972, B225 was notable for being used on the push-pull test runs with the de-engined 2600 series railcars ahead of the entry into service of the class on Dublin surburban services. It was eventually taken out of service just over 14 years later in June 1986 and was one of 14 examples to be scrapped in the UK at Vic Berry’s yard in Leicester.
